Ryan Fortier, DVMDr. Ryan Fortier, our Chief of Staff, grew up in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and obtained an undergraduate degree in Animal Science and Technology at the University of Rhode Island. He then studied veterinary medicine at Michigan State University, earning a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in May 2016. Dr. Fortier is primarily interested in internal medicine and enjoys working up complex cases. He greatly enjoys teaching and is always eager to explain to clients what disease their animal has and how he plans to treat them.

In his spare time, Dr. Fortier enjoys writing and is currently editing his second novel.

Jay Rogoff, DVMDr. Jay Rogoff, Co-Founder of Animal Hospital of the Rockaways, attended Cornell University as an undergraduate and received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1973 from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member in good standing of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Cornell Feline Health Center, New York State Veterinary Medical Society, and New York City Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Rogoff heads our surgery department.

His interests include photography, travel, and horseback riding.

Dr. Allan Simon, Co-Founder of Animal Hospital of the Rockaways, attended Cornell University as an undergraduate and received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1973 from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member in good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Cornell Feline Health Center, New York State Veterinary Medical Society, and the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Simon heads our dermatology department.

When not at the hospital, Dr. Simon enjoys tennis, sailing, and travel.

Dr. Susan Whittred graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, earning a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She is a member in good standing of the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Cornell Feline Health Center, New York State Veterinary Medical Society, Long Island Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV). Dr. Whittred has vast experience in feline medicine.

Her interests include her cats, music, crocheting, and knitting.

Dr. Galatis grew up and currently resides in Astoria, Queens, New York. She received an undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University and earned her DVM degree from Ross University. Her special interests include preventative medicine and surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Galatis enjoys baking, photography, and dance.
